EAST SIKKIM

  1. East Sikkim is located in the shadows of the world's third highest peak, Kanchenjunga. Gangtok is the hub of all activities of east Sikkim and the capital city is always bustling with life. This lovely district is a storehouse of the most exotic and beautiful orchids, flora that bloom during different parts of the year. Some of the major attraction of Sikkim is approachable from Gangtok. Lachen, Lachung, Tsomgo Lake, Pelling, Ravangla, Arhitar Lake and the list is endless. Known for the Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist studies initiated by the late 16th Karmapa, in the adjoining building of the Rumtek Monastery is worth visiting and a nice location. Other tourist areas include Arhitar Lake and the famous Phodong monastery north of Gangtok and the internationally famous Rumtek Monastery other than the numerous tourist spot. One of the nice feature of this district headquarter is the permanent flower show.

    International flower show was held in Saramsa garden. Driving is also a great experience one can enjoy in Sikkim, especially on the way to Gangtok with the dense forest above and the mighty Teesta below, the drive doesn’t get tiring. All the town of East Sikkim has one thing in common i.e. each one offering a breath taking sight of the numerous peaks of the majestic Himalayas. The views of Mount Kanchendzonga and Mount Everest are particularly inspiring. There are various resorts with various infrastructure, boating facilities, fishing and yak ride all of which can be incorporated in the shoot. Sikkim is home to many a movie and the specialty of Sikkim is that the population is minimum and the shooting can be done with ease and without any disturbances. Dances of various groups like the Lepcha or the Bhutias and music can be arranged if informed earlier. There are many a tribes of the region. Various forms of songs can be arranged even dances of various tribes can be filmed. Their festival held during Losar or the festivals held in the Monastery are really colorful can be incorporated and there are many options which can be used during the shoot.
    We have shot a few films in the East district of Sikkim. The places of tourist interest and for shooting of commercials etc are generally organized here as per the choice of the Director matching the story line.
